A Soul Shard is an Event item obtainable during Halloween.
Description[]
"A mysterious fragment pulsing with a dark aura. Holding it is enough to send chills down your spine.
The Cauldron in Galloper's Keep is calling out to these shards. Should you choose to deliver them, you may be rewarded, but at what cost?" - Star Stable Online
Appearance[]
Soul Shards appear in the player's inventory as a green, pencil shaped prism, crystal. It is a stackable object, meaning players can have more than one shard take up a single slot in their inventory.
When outside the player's inventory, Soul Shards appear as small green hexagonal prisms floating in mid-air with a black aura pulsating around it. As the shard pulsates is begins to separate into three parts and then slowly forms back together.
The shards got an orange recolor for 2019's Halloween event. Shards from 2018 were unaffected by this change and can presumably no longer be traded in for rewards. The Soul Shards of 2020 was recolored to pink.
Function[]
Since 2018, Soul Shards are obtained during by completing races in Galloper's Keep or by hunting for shards scattered throughout Jorvik. Hints to these hidden shards are given out by Ghosts roaming the keep who cannot find rest until their shards are found.
From 2020, Soul Shards could also be obtained by completing races in Galloper's Keep, however, players could collect one shard after gathering 20 soul fragments scattered in a specific area by Lost Souls that appear throughout Jorvik. The Lost Souls appear every hour, on the hour and are available for the first 20 minutes of the hour. Like the Pandorian Rifts, the Lost Souls are marked by a vortex visible from most places in Jorvik. The vortex disappears once the player is within a certain radius of the Lost Soul.
Once a player collects at least five shards, they can turn them into the large cauldron in the middle of the keep for special quest rewards and treats.
Should a player want to sell their Soul Shards rather than trade them into the cauldron, they can be sold for 40 Jorvik Shillings each.
