Races are a feature in Star Stable Online that refers to any competition or task within the game that can be replayed each day for players to train their horses.
Function[]
Race leaders offer their races as a daily quest; competing the races gives rewards of JS, reputation and XP for the player's horse. Players can also compete in the races through a high score board, where they can attempt to improve their time without receiving any rewards. If the player gets the fastest time of the day, week or month in a race, they receive a reward of JS. You can also beat your friends a lot.
Mechanics[]
Checkpoints[]
During the race, players will have to run through certain checkpoints to complete the race. These checkpoints are indicated by a floating green arrow in the open world, or, on occasion, the player's mini map. These arrows can indicate a jump or simply the direction the player must take to reach the end goal.
The Green Arrows will turn red if a player is entering a checkpoint in the wrong direction. If a player goes through a checkpoint backwards, the race is immediately ended and players must start the race ALL over again.
Checkpoint Time[]
Players are required to reach each checkpoint within the allotted time given. The time given for a player to make it from one checkpoint to the next varies and can affect the difficulty of a race. If a player does not reach a checkpoint before the time runs out, the race ends.
Difficulty[]
The difficulty of a race is subjective and can vary depending on a player's skill. However, a race's technical difficulty can be determined by dividing the number of checkpoints by the recovery time in each race. Those calculations are as follows:
Score | Difficulty | Grade |
---|---|---|
0 - 0.9 | Very Easy | ★☆☆☆☆ |
1 - 2.9 | Easy | ★★☆☆☆ |
2 - 3.9 | Average | ★★★☆☆ |
4 - 5.9 | Hard | ★★★★☆ |
6+ | Very Hard | ★★★★★ |
