Jasper Holbrook is an old farmer who lives at both Old Jasper's House and Jasper's Pumpkin Farm. He is the father of Catherine Moorland, the father-in-law of Thomas Moorland, and the grandfather of Justin Moorland.
Biography[]
Prior to the events of Star Stable Online, Jasper's wife passed away unexpectedly, leaving him as a single father to Catherine. As a farmer and horseman, Jasper raised his daughter to become a talented equestrian. He began leasing out a part of his property in Goldenhills Valley to the Moorland family when both Catherine and Thomas were in their late teens as he desperately needed money. Shortly after the Moorlands lease began, Catherine was approached by Fripp and the Keepers of Aideen as she was recognized to be a Soul Rider.
Jasper had hesitations about the Druids and magic, but became accepting of them once he saw how Catherine had "blossomed" under their guidance. Jasper claims he always knew their was "something special" about Catherine and her bond with horses. He likened her growth as a Soul Rider to the growth of a pumpkin- "my little girl blossomed like a pumpkin in October".
After Catherine's accident with Eva, she "changed" and abandoned her role with the Keepers of Aideen, worrying Jasper. Her vulnerability caused her to confide in Thomas, leading to them falling in love and getting married. Jasper didn't approve of the wedding- he believed both Catherine and Thomas to be too young, and was upset by their choice to get eloped. Despite his feelings about the wedding, Jasper moved away from Moorland and back into his Pumpkin Farm to give the young Moorland family space.
Jasper's daughter Catherine died while giving birth to Justin, and he blames both Thomas and the Druids for his daughter's untimely death. He believes the Druids "broke" Catherine, and because of this he harbours a great hatred for both magic and the Keepers of Aideen. Although his opinion of Thomas changes throughout the game, he blames him for Catherine's death as the father of the baby she died delivering. Prior to the events of Star Stable Online, Thomas and Jasper had not spoken in twenty years.
Jasper owns two properties- Old Jasper's House in Moorland, and Jasper's Pumpkin Farm in Goldenhills Valley. He resides in Moorland at the beginning of the game and moves to his Pumpkin Farm once the player has unlocked Goldenhills Valley.
