Description

"As the heat of summer fades the leaves reflect the brilliance of the sun, turning into magnificent golds, oranges, and reds as the days grow shorter. At the turning of the first leaf from green to gold the Hemera arrive from their ancient forest home in north west Jorvik. More than one rider has encountered these unicorns on the Light Ride in Golden Hills Valley among the fallen leaves.

Druids who watch over the wild horses of Jorvik are unsure how these autumn unicorns came to be, speculating a strange mixing of fairy, druid, and nature magic changed the native wild horses into something mystical. Regardless of their origins, these horses have become a sign of autum, with some legends suggesting they are responsible for the changing colors and shortening days. They want to warm the world against the coming winter and every day take a little bit of sunlight to use as paint for the leaves, coloring the trees in fiery colors. Stories say they emerge only during the day and prefer to remain in deciduous forests, where the trees change their colors and drop their leaves.

The Hemera seem to glow with warmth and positive energy, eager to face any new day. They adapt well to change, thriving on new experiences with their friends. Whether in their true magical colors on in disguise, they ride like the Haflingers they resemble."

Unique Features

Color Changing

The Hemera is a magical horse with the special ability to change colors. When the player presses the "h" key or the magic horse icon on the horse's character sheet, the horse will change from its neutral colors to its natural (magic) colors and vice versa. The horse will not change colors during races or while the player is unmounted.

Autumn leaves to Flaxen Red Roan

The Hemera can be unlocked through the Path of Wimsy quests in the Hollowoods Rune Stone in Valedale. Once this pathway has been unlocked, Hemera can be purchased for 450 Star Coins.

• Natural Color: Light brown body with green in mane and tail, gold leaves in hair and on back, gold curved horn, and pink runes on legs.

• Hemera, like most other Magic horses, cannot have its hairstyle changed.
• The name Hemera (/ˈhɛmərə/; Ancient Greek: Ἡμέρα, romanized: Hēméra) means "day" in Greek. This was the name given to the goddess who was the personification of the daytime. According to Hesiod, she was the daughter of Erebus (God of darkness) and Nyx (Goddess and personification of night). She is typically associated with the Sky.
• The neutral coat of Hemera is seen standing at the Valedale Championship hub, next to the NPC Rory.
• The Hemera appears to take inspiration from the Qilin ([tɕʰǐ.lǐn]; Chinese: 麒麟) AKA Kirin (Japan and Korea), Gilin (Thailand), and Kỳ lân (Vietnam) which is a Unicorn-like creature from many Asian mythos.
  • The scale-like leaves on its back and curved horn with split tip are common attributes to the creature.
