Gary Goldtooth is a man from Mistfall who sells Jorvik Wild Horses and other magical horse breeds, who travels around with a wagon. Gary is one of the very few human beings who interacts with the Jorvik Wild Horses of Wildwoods, and has their trust and respect. He is known to teach the various magic horses of the "Gray World", and takes on the role of a Wild Warden by introducing horses to humans if they wish to bond with a rider, and essentially be domesticated. Gary makes it his duty to protect the Jorvik Wild herds in Wildwoods and the outside world.

According to Athena, Gary rarely visits the northern part of Wildwoods, but when he does the herds gather to listen to his stories of the outside world and brings souvenirs. She states that Gary helps horses that want to leave the Wildwoods find a human to bond to in the Gray World. Athena also briefly mentioned that he once climbed a volcano to find Umbra. Gary arrives at Buck Burrow and is fascinated to see another human in this part of Wildwoods. He introduces himself and reminisced being back in Wildwoods after staying a while in Eastern Jorvik tending to some Jorvik Wild horses. Gary does not deny glorifying the outside world and gives Athena an idea for a Warriors challenge against the player to prove her strength for the Gray World. After this competition, Willow bought bad news that one of the Foresters named Cedar that travelled to the outside world lost his rider, Huck who was in great fear.
After Gary asked for any Jorvik Wild horse willing to take him to save Cedar, Willow and Rocco encouraged Ash to go who was reluctant to do so at first. It was revealed that Tomyris was a lively mare in which Gary paired with a girl, presumably named Lemmy, who lived north-east of the Firgrove mountains. Passing through the Gray World Gap, the player and Gary riding Ash meet Huck who had bought Cedar for summer camp and sold him to Scott Buttergood as he had to return to America. Gary, Ash and the player arrive at Starshine Ranch to see Scott standing in front of a stabled Cedar explaining that his father wanted to study the magical properties of Jorvik Wild horses and keep him locked up in the basement for the time being. Knowing that this was not good for the horse, Gary seeks ranch owner, Carl for help. Carl states that he is helpless in the situation and redirects the three to Josh who decided to help them by distracting Scott with insults on his cowboy boots while Gary waited to escape with the horses and the player freeing Cedar. Scott chased them on his horse, but is stopped by the landslide in Gray World Gap. Gary is relieved to know that The Sentinel Tree will have another Jorvik Wild Horse safe and sound. The other Jorvik Wild horses including Juniper are thrilled to have Cedar back in Wildwoods.
Drawn to Wildwoods since childhood, Gary had a long history being there. He hinted that he is a Wild Whisperer who was drawn to nature and Wildwoods, which is the only place where he feels truly free. Although Wildwoods is his home, Gary stated that he would not go near The Sentinel Tree as it gives him a sickly taste in his mouth "like cotton candy," but he suspected that it helps keep Wildwoods as it is now. Gary revealed that in his first venture to Wildwoods, he went looking for the missing Edith but never found her. Instead, he was captivated to stay with the Jorvik Wild herds and the magic of the forest.
